Every two weeks we are introducing you to inspiring women on our network and share their stories. Maybe they can become your role models and lower the barrier to connect online and offline, especially when you meet in our meetups.
What’s your name?
Johanna Nore
Where do you work?
I work in Uudenmaa TE-Office and my site is in Pasila. My title is specialist and I´m the contact person to my customers in TE-Office. I work in the youth section where the customers are under 30 years old. I´ve been working there a bit over a year now and enjoy every day (or most of the days at least).
What is your title?
I´m a specialist in Competence Development, Youth section
Email address?
johanna.nore@gmail.com (work address is johanna.nore@te-toimisto.fi)
What is your story, your background?
I was studying multimedia content design in Pirkanmaa Polytechnic during 1997-2000, but then life & work “swallowed” me and I didn´t finalize the studies. I´ve been working mostly as an assistant, starting as an office / sales assistant and the latest long period (7,5 years) first as an management- and later executive assistant in Nokia Oyj and Microsoft Mobile Oy. Basically I can say that the assistant and coordinator work is in my blood. I´ve planned to wrap up my studies in Haaga-Helia during the next couple of years in the Degree for the Multilingual Management Assistants (tradenomi).
Is technology part of you work?
Yes, technology is part of my work. Well, we all use computers so that´s an easy way to include tech into a everyday life. In my work knowning the IT field and it´s titles is a big plus when helping the customer searching for the job. I want to use my work experience and knowledge in my work. Even though the technology is not playing that big part of my work life now, I´m interested to learn more about the latest findings and trends. Hopefully we could use more some of the biggest trends (AR, VR, IoT, Mobile learning) in TE-Service in the future.
Your biggest challenge at the moment at work or in self-development?
This past year has been a huge dive to the deep end, so to say. The job interview came to me as a surprise (I wasn´t actually searching for the job in TE-Office, but my contact person told me that there are many open positions in TE-Service in general and asked whether I´m interested). I went to the interview without knowing anything about the position, only the location + date + time. After starting at my position I didn´t know much about it but thanks to my great collegues got the hunch quick. I´ve been learning so much new that my head is still a bit spinning: law, rules, regulations, options, trainings, customerships, barometres, services etc.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Oh gosh, what question. Most propably working in an interesting and challenging position using my wide work experience, knowledge, able to be in a customer service with an Happy to Help -attitude.
What Future Female network has given you? Or what would you like it to give you?
Future Female is an amazing organization. The agendas, presentations, speakers, workshops and organizers are top-notch. It´s so interesting to hear more about the diffrent companies, services and tech issues. Even though they may not be a part of my work life now, one never know when that day will come. Apart from the presentations, it has been great networking and meeting new people.
What is the best and the most important quality in your professional persona from your point of view?
I’ve always been helpful (one of my mottos is “happy to help”), very emphatic, outgoing and willing to make sure that there´s great atmosphere at the office.
Quote that inspires you the most?
“Always look at the brighter side of life” -Monthy Python-
Last but not least – name one woman who you admire and why?
First I have to say my mom. She´s my inspiration fountain, rock and best friend. Well, it´s difficult to name one woman I admire. Picking up one name from the big list: Maria Veitola. She has walked a long way to the present position. She´s a tough cookie, funny, says things as they are, great hostess in a talk show and sleep over Program. She´s definitely a Boss Lady!
