Every two weeks we are introducing you to inspiring women on our network and share their stories. Maybe they can become your role models and lower the barrier to connect online and offline, especially when you meet in our meetups.
Where do you work, study or are you looking for job?
At the moment I work as a social media content, pr and marketing planner at Valve Motion, and now and then give lectures, produce still- and video projects and work as a freelancer journalist via my own company. I also plan to finish my master’s studies on journalism at Haaga-Helia this year.
What is your title?
In my email signature it says: PR, Social media, Little Miracles
What is your story, your background?
I stepped on a professional theatre stage at the age of 11. Since then I have kept working with performing and widened it to media, journalism, PR and nowadays also to social media fields.
Is technology part of you work?
Technology plays bigger and bigger part in my work every day. You need quite some amount of it in producing and distributing content: from cameras to mobile phone applications and social media platforms. In marketing communications data driven marketing, SEO, and all the analyzing technologies that help us to monitor and change course if needed. I am a huge fan of all the possibilities that technology can enable, yet I still believe that combining e.g. empathy with technology gives you the best outcome.
Your biggest challenge at the moment at work or in self-development?
I easily get TOO excited, but since it is only 24 h per day, one simply can not dive in to all that interests. This leads in a situation where I have waaaaaay to many projects at the same time. But: I still love it!
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
I am aiming to develop more my communicational skills and hopefully at some point combine that and my other knowledge with some projects that would benefit nature, human rights or freedom of speech.
What Future Female network has given you? Or what would you like it to give you?
Future Female is something that I would describe as a combination of inspirational “therapy” group and tough as nails professionals to learn from. The atmosphere in all the events I have taken part is something I have never experienced elsewhere.
What is the best and the most important quality in your professional persona from your point of view?
Capability to adapt and solve problems very promptly, combined with my communicational skills. Hence I have wide range of knowledge from various positions in media field, it is fairly easy to see the bigger picture and prioritize the needed actions.
Quote that inspires you the most?
“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep the balance, you have to keep on moving.” – Albert Einstein
Last but not least – name one woman who you admire and why?
Hands down Kathrine Switzer, the first woman to run the Boston Marathon as a numbered entrant. She registered with “neutral” name; K.V.Switzer and during the run race official attempted to physically remove her from the race. Switzer’s boyfriend, who ran along, shoved the race official aside, allowing her to keep on running: while all this was caught on film by journalist photographers. It took another five years before women were officially allowed to compete, but her fearless and determined action proved that women are not necessarily as fragile as thought. Also her career as a author and television commentator truly inspires me.
