Interest towards Futures thinking and foresight is growing due to the increased uncertainty caused by COVID-19 pandemic. Foresight in strategy creation is also becoming popular as it’s a way to structure and clarify options and pathways of the complex world. Futures thinking is often misunderstood as prophecies of future. Scientific futures studies explore the alternative futures and development paths leading to those. It aims to decrease the uncertainty by offering alternative future scenarios and increase understanding on how those can be affected.

The speaker, Satu Anttonen is Design Director and Futures Studies enthusiast. Her passion is to grow organisations, businesses, services, and teams to the next level and new growth. She’s exploring ways to bridge long-term futures thinking to present day actions so that different horizons are linked to each other. Satu believes that futures thinking and design can be combined to enable thinking on both strategic and practical level in parallel to each other.

The co-speaker, Jutta Johansson is a Principal Designer at Strategic design agency Nordkapp and passioned strategist and innovation professional. Her expertise lies on thinking the bigger picture, and finding the answers, focus and clear direction. She believes strongly that futures thinking and living strategy should be always considered side by side.
Her expertise comes from working in and with the global corporations and organisations in the areas of lifestyle, automotive and consumer technology.
