Every two weeks we are introducing you to inspiring women on our network and share their stories. Maybe they can become your role models and lower the barrier to connect online and offline, especially when you meet in our meetups.
Your name? Katja Sofia Seger
Where do you work? I work at QOCO Systems, a Finnish IT company specialized in the aviation industry
What is your title? Consultant
What is your story, your background? I’ve studied Entrepreneurship & Management at Hanken, but felt something was missing when only focusing on the business side without having that much technical understanding. Whilst wrapping up my studies at Hanken I took part in a three month coding bootcamp and started working as an IT consultant right after. I enjoy roles where I get to combine understanding of both the business and the tech side.
Is technology part of you work? Very much so, I was originally hired as a developer although my tasks have since expanded beyond programming.
Your biggest challenge at the moment at work or in self-development? So much to learn, so little time! I get easily excited about learning new things, so I often struggle to find the time for everything I would like to fit in my calendar.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Hopefully enjoying life to the fullest, that is the only thing I have planned 🙂 A lot of the best things in life happen unexpectedly, so I try not to plan too far ahead but enjoy the present. As the saying goes, life is what happens while you’re busy making other plans.
What Future Female network has given you? Or what would you like it to give you? A lot of interesting & inspirational events and the chance to meet a lot of like-minded people.
Quote that inspires you the most? I’m generally not a big fan of fridge magnets but I’ve had one asking “What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail” for the last ten years or so. It’s a daily reminder that fear of failing often holds us back from what we really want in life.
Last but not least – name one woman who you admire and why? I really admire Linda Liukas’ work for making programming more approachable and accessible to people who might not otherwise find it being their thing and I look forward to see how Hive Helsinki kicks off in the summer.
